Toms, Byrd set early pace

Photo - David Toms CHARLOTTE - David Toms and Jonathan Byrd weathered the cold early in their morning rounds and as it warmed, so too did their games. They matched 6 under 66s and led by one over Lucas Glover and Pat Perez after the morning wave. Toms, a winner here in 2003 is looking for his first tour win since the 2006 Sony Open in Hawaii, while Byrd is looking to get his second of the year after a victory at the season-opening event in Maui.  Pat Perez, Carl Pettersson and Stuart Appleby stand two back after 68s. Among those out this afternoon are Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh and Paul Casey.  A full story will follow completion of the round.
