Lowery shoots 63, leads by one
GRAND BLANC, Mich. - Steve Lowery bettered his previous best round of the year by two strokes as he opened with a 9 under 63 to lead by one over John Senden at the Buick Open.Lowery started on the back nine and went out in 2 under, but his final nine were pretty sweet. He started a run of four straight birdies at the first, then added two pars before closing out his round with three consecutive birdies for 29 on the front.
Senden, who missed the cut at the British Open earlier this month by shooting 66-80, posted a 64 that included a run of five straight birdies.
Y.E. Yang and James Nitties were another shot back at minus-7.
