Final-round notebook – Frys.com Open

Photo - Kevin Sutherland * Kevin Sutherland records his third runner-up finish since winning the 2002 World Golf Championships -Accenture Match Play Championship and his second runner-up effort of the 2008 season. Sutherland finished T2 at the 2008 Barclays, the first of the four FedExCup Playoff events.

* Mathew Goggin posted his second round of 7-under 63 at Greyhawk Golf Club this week to finish third at the FRYS.com Open. It is his fifth top-10 of the season and his second top-5 finish during the Fall Series events (T5 at Turning Stone Resort Championship). He moves to 38th on the season money list for his best position ever since joining the Tour in 2000.

 * Cameron Beckman defeats Kevin Sutherland with a par-4 on the second hole of the playoff to win the FRYS.com Open. Beckman wins in his first-ever playoff on the Tour. Kevin Sutherland is now (0-2) in playoffs on the Tour. Sutherland lost to Phil Blackmar at the 1997 Shell Houston Open.

* Mike Weir earned $206,667 this week with his T4 finish, making him the 143th player this season to surpass $3 million in earnings ($3,020,135).

* Ninety-eight players have earned more than $1 million this season. Bill Haas is the last player to go over the $1 million mark for the season. Haas surpasses the $1 million mark for the first time in his career thanks to his T20 finish at the FRYS.com Open. He goes over the mark by $939. Last year, 99 players collected over $1 million, the most in the history of the Tour.

* A total of 19 players posted all four rounds in the 60s this week, including champion Cameron Beckman (69-66-64-63). Last year only four players managed to post four rounds in the 60s at Grayhawk Golf Club, including the winner Mike Weir.  This is the 12th time this year a winner has posted four rounds in the 60s in a single event to go on to win.

* Cameron Beckman, winner of the 2001 Southern Farm Bureau Classic, wins for just the second time since joining the Tour in 1999. It is his first top-10 effort since he finished T5 at the 2007 Ginn sur Mer Classic at Tesoro. He entered the week 175th on the money list and moves to 86th thanks to his career-best $900,000 payday.

* The 2007 winner of the FRYS.com Open, contested at Grayhawk GC, Mike Weir finished T4 thanks to a closing 7-under 63. Going back to last year he has now posted eight rounds in the 60s at Grayhawk Golf Club.  Sean O’Hair (T17) and Billy Mayfair (T17) have also managed to post eight consecutive rounds in the 60s going back to last year’s event.

* J.J. Henry, who posted four rounds in the 60s this week, finished T4 at the FRYS.com Open, for his second top-10 of the season (T4 at Wyndham Championship).  His $206,667 payday moves him from 137th to 120th on the money list. Henry has one Tour title, the 2006 Buick Championship.

* Arron Oberholser, who was the 36-hole leader on Friday at Grayhawk Golf Club, recorded his first top-10 of the season (10 starts/injury) with his T4 effort at the FRYS.com Open after closing with a 4-under 66. It is his best finish since he finished runner-up at the 2007 Deutsche Bank Championship back in September.

* Paul Goydos recorded his third top-10 of the season with his T7 effort at the FRYS.com Open.

* Pat Perez posted a T7 finish at the FRYS.com Open thanks to a closing 7-under 63. He now has collected six top-10s this year. His $1,756,038 in season earning marks a career best for the Phoenix native.

* Steve Allan, who posted four rounds in the 60s this week, moves inside the top-125 money list thanks to his T7 finish at the FRYS.com Open. It was his fourth top-10 finish of the season and his third top-10 in four starts during the Fall Series events. Allan was 198th on the money list going into the first fall season event, the Viking Classic, Sunday he moves to 131st with $743,970. He has collected almost $450,000 in his last three starts on Tour.

* Michael Sim posted a career-best finish with his T7 effort at the FRYS.com Open. Previously he finished T9 at the 2007 Ginn sur Mer Classic at Tesoro. His second round 7-under 63 was a career best round for Sim on Tour.

* Davis Love III continues to improve his position on the money list during the Fall Series events. Heading into the Fall Series he was 152nd (before the Viking Classic) on the season money list. After posting three top-15 finishes in his last four starts, including a T11 Sunday at the FRYS.com Open he moves inside the top-125 to 115th, with $867,237.

* The par-3 16th hole played the most difficult this week with a 3.171 average. The par-4 15th hole ranked as the easiest all four days, with a cumulative average of 3.580.

* Mathew Goggin, J.J. Henry, Michael Sim, Arron Oberholser, Bubba Watson, Tim Herron and Steve Flesch all carded bogey-free rounds on Sunday.
